SonTek-IQ Series
The SonTek-IQ Series provides continuous flow, velocity, water level and total volume measurement in open channels, natural streams, culverts and pipes.
Using five acoustic beams, the SonTek-IQ measures the velocity distribution across the channel while a vertical acoustic beam and integrated pressure sensor provide continuous water-level measurement. SonTek's SmartPulseHD® technology automatically adapts the acoustic measurement to changing flow conditions, providing reliable area-velocity measurement from a compact, self-contained instrument.
The IQ can measure flow and volume in water depths from approximately 8 cm, making it suitable for both shallow and variable-flow applications.

SonTek-IQ Models
The SonTek-IQ Series is available in three configurations:
SonTek-IQ Standard – designed for regular open channels with measurement depths up to 1.5 m. It uses a single dynamically integrated velocity cell and provides a cost-effective solution where detailed velocity profiling is not required.
SonTek-IQ Plus – designed for natural and irregular open channels with measurement depths up to 5 m. Up to 100 velocity cells provide detailed profiling across the measurement section.
SonTek-IQ Pipe – specifically designed for partially or completely filled pipes and culverts. The system automatically adapts its measurement approach according to whether the pipe is full or partially full and is suitable for pipe diameters from approximately 0.5 to 5 m.
IQ or SonTek-SL?
The SonTek-IQ is generally suited to bottom-mounted installations where the instrument can measure velocity and water level from within the channel.
For larger channels, difficult bed conditions or installations where a side-mounted instrument is preferable, the SonTek-SL Series provides an alternative approach using horizontal velocity profiling.
