Geosorb Screened Assembly
Geotech GeoSorb Passive Hydrocarbon Recovery System
The Geotech GeoSorb is a simple, passive system for the recovery of free-phase hydrocarbons from groundwater monitoring and recovery wells.
The system consists of a heavy-duty stainless steel screened cage containing a product-selective absorbent sock. When lowered into the well across the free-product layer, the absorbent selectively recovers hydrocarbons while minimising the uptake of water.
Requiring no pumps, power supply or controls, GeoSorb provides a straightforward and economical solution for passive free-product recovery and can be particularly useful at remote sites or across multiple monitoring wells.
Key Benefits
Passive recovery of free-phase hydrocarbons
Designed to recover product rather than water
No power, pumps or controllers required
Simple installation and retrieval
Reusable stainless steel screen assembly
Replaceable absorbent socks
Ballasted for effective submergence
Available for 2" and 4" wells
Applications
Typical applications include:
Free-phase hydrocarbon recovery
LNAPL recovery
Contaminated land remediation
Fuel and oil spill remediation
Monitoring and recovery wells
Passive remediation programmes
Simple Passive Recovery
The GeoSorb is positioned within the well to maximise contact with the floating product layer. Hydrocarbons are absorbed into the replaceable polypropylene sock, which can then be recovered and replaced as required.
For longer-term installations, the screened assembly can be positioned to accommodate fluctuations in groundwater and product levels.
Flux Enviro can supply complete GeoSorb assemblies and replacement absorbent socks, together with other equipment for groundwater monitoring and free-product recovery.
