The SonTek FlowTracker2 (FT2) is a portable, high-precision Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV®) designed for wading discharge and point-velocity measurements in rivers, channels and shallow-water environments.
Built on SonTek's proven ADV technology, the FlowTracker2 provides accurate velocity measurement in low-flow and shallow-water conditions where conventional measurement methods can struggle. Integrated GPS, Bluetooth connectivity, built-in quality control and an intuitive colour display provide an efficient system for routine hydrometric gauging and environmental flow measurement.
Advanced ADV Technology
The FlowTracker2 uses acoustic Doppler technology to measure water velocity within a small sampling volume away from the probe, minimising disturbance from the instrument itself.
The system provides 2D velocity measurement in the horizontal plane as standard, with optional 3D capability for more advanced velocity measurement and quality control.

Discharge Measurement
For wading discharge measurements, FlowTracker2 guides the user through each measurement vertical while automatically calculating discharge across the channel cross-section using established measurement methods.
Built-in SmartQC continuously evaluates acoustic and velocity data and alerts the operator where measurement conditions require attention. This allows potential issues to be identified in the field rather than during subsequent data processing.

FlowTracker2 or RS5?
The FlowTracker2 is ideally suited to wadeable rivers and channels where point-velocity measurements can be collected across a cross-section. Its shallow-water and low-velocity performance makes it particularly useful for routine hydrometric gauging.
For deeper, wider or non-wadeable channels where a moving-platform measurement is more appropriate, the SonTek RS5 ADCP provides water-column velocity profiling and transect-based discharge measurement.
